A rich white sourdough packed with mature Cheddar and fresh chives, naturally leavened and slowly fermented, with a crisp crust, tender crumb and pockets of melted cheese throughout.

Made using our classic white sourdough dough, this loaf is enriched with mature Cheddar and fresh chives. The cheese is folded through the dough so it melts into the crumb as the loaf bakes, while the chives add a fresh, savoury flavour that complements the richness of the Cheddar.

Naturally leavened and given time to ferment, the dough develops a gentle tang and rounded flavour. Baked free-form, it produces a well-developed crust and an open, tender crumb, with plenty of Cheddar running throughout.

Local flour, whenever we can

When available, we use locally milled white flour from Charlecote Mill, the last working watermill in South Warwickshire. If local flour isn’t available, we switch to a carefully chosen organic white flour so the loaf remains consistent, flavourful and well balanced.

Serving suggestions

Excellent on its own, generously buttered, or toasted until the Cheddar starts to warm and melt. Particularly good alongside soups, with eggs for breakfast, as the base for a seriously good sandwich, or simply torn into while it’s still fresh.

It also makes exceptionally good cheese on toast — although adding more cheese might be considered showing off.

Storage & freshness

Best enjoyed within 3–4 days. Keep cut-side down on a board or in a bread bag. For longer keeping, slice and freeze — it toasts beautifully straight from frozen.
